The Roborank MCP server

Give your AI assistant your Roborank data: quick wins, Search Console queries, rankings, AI visibility, page content, and fixes that go through your approval. Same tools as the CLI, for apps that speak MCP.

Get a token

In Roborank, open Settings → Connect Claude and create a token. It starts with rbk_. Treat it like a password: anyone holding it can read your sites' data, and propose edits if you turned on remote edits. Revoke it from the same page.

Server URL: https://roborank.swatseo.net/mcp (Streamable HTTP). Every request sends Authorization: Bearer rbk_.... In the examples below, put your token where you see rbk_..., or export it once as ROBORANK_TOKEN where the app reads environment variables.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http roborank https://roborank.swatseo.net/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer rbk_..."

Then ask: "Use Roborank: what are the quick wins on example.com?" Add --scope user to make it available in every project.

Cursor

Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "roborank": {
      "url": "https://roborank.swatseo.net/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer rbk_..." }
    }
  }
}

VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

Add to .vscode/mcp.json. VS Code asks for the token once and stores it securely:

{
  "inputs": [
    {
      "type": "promptString",
      "id": "roborank-token",
      "description": "Roborank token (rbk_...)",
      "password": true
    }
  ],
  "servers": {
    "roborank": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://roborank.swatseo.net/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${input:roborank-token}" }
    }
  }
}

Windsurf

Add to ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "roborank": {
      "serverUrl": "https://roborank.swatseo.net/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer rbk_..." }
    }
  }
}

Codex CLI

export ROBORANK_TOKEN=rbk_...
codex mcp add roborank --url https://roborank.swatseo.net/mcp \
  --bearer-token-env-var ROBORANK_TOKEN

Or in ~/.codex/config.toml:

[mcp_servers.roborank]
url = "https://roborank.swatseo.net/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "ROBORANK_TOKEN"

Gemini CLI

Add to ~/.gemini/settings.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "roborank": {
      "httpUrl": "https://roborank.swatseo.net/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer rbk_..." }
    }
  }
}

Grok Build

export ROBORANK_TOKEN=rbk_...
grok mcp add --transport http roborank https://roborank.swatseo.net/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer ${ROBORANK_TOKEN}"

Check it with grok mcp doctor roborank.

Other MCP apps

Any app that can add a remote MCP server with a custom header works the same way (Cline, Roo Code, Zed, Muse Code and others): add a remote or HTTP server with the URL https://roborank.swatseo.net/mcp and the header Authorization: Bearer rbk_.... Look for the app's MCP settings; the field names differ from app to app.

Claude, OpenAI and xAI APIs

Building your own agent? The model providers can call Roborank for you. Anthropic's Messages API, with the MCP connector:

"mcp_servers": [{
  "type": "url",
  "name": "roborank",
  "url": "https://roborank.swatseo.net/mcp",
  "authorization_token": "rbk_..."
}]

OpenAI's Responses API and xAI's Responses API take the same shape in tools:

{
  "type": "mcp",
  "server_label": "roborank",
  "server_url": "https://roborank.swatseo.net/mcp",
  "authorization": "rbk_..."
}

Check each provider's current docs for required beta headers and model names.

claude.ai, ChatGPT and grok.com

These apps connect to MCP servers through a sign-in flow (OAuth) rather than a pasted token. Roborank does not support that sign-in yet; it is being built. Until then, use one of the apps above, or the CLI from Claude Code.

What the tools can do

Every tool says whether it only reads, edits your site, or spends credits, so apps that ask before acting can ask at the right moments. Limit: 60 requests a minute per token.
